ROFL! And I had just written off Pitt as a dumb blonde :)

I can't believe you didn't mention Jolie's Rand worship!

>I can't believe you didn't mention Jolie's Rand worship!

I was taking the high road ...

Besides, Jolie's bizarreness is so extreme that her Randian leanings seem pale by comparison. Here are some choice quotes from Brad Pitt's significant other:

"You're young, you're drunk, you're in bed, you have knives; s--t happens!"

(Hey, haven't we all been there?)

"I'm the person most likely to sleep with my female fans."

"When other little girls wanted to be ballet dancers I kind of wanted to be a vampire."

(Possibly explaining why she kept a dab of ex-hubby's Billy Bob Thornton's blood in a container around her neck, and why she used to enjoy cutting herself with knives.)

"I need more sex, okay? Before I die I wanna taste everyone in the world."

And a quote that helps to explain her affinity for Randian heroine Dagny Taggart:

"I am always on top [during sex]. It's really unfortunate. I am begging for the man that can put me on the bottom. Or the woman. Anybody that can take me down."

And from another site:

"I am so in love with my brother right now!"

(Which doesn't seem weird at all, until you learn that she said this at the Oscars, then turned around and gave her brother a lingering erotic kiss on the mouth.)

To be fair, here are two quotes I find insightful:

"Without pain, there would be no suffering, without suffering we would never learn from our mistakes. To make it right, pain and suffering is the key to all windows, without it, there is no way of life."

"We come to love not by finding the perfect person, but by learning to see an imperfect person perfectly."

Jolie, by the way, has reportedly agreed to star as Dagny Taggart in a planned feature film of Atlas Shrugged.

wow, like the very last quote...wonderful...

very funny column today, Michael.

I'll have to change my M.O. I've been using, "Dog hit by and dad in coma...(sob)...please hold me..."

Personally, I think the film version of AS can't come soon enough. It's bound to a be a bomb, and can't help but show Rand's ridulousness in all it's glory. I only hope it's done by True Believers, and not by someone who plays up the campiness (a la Verhoven and Starship Troopers). It could do for Rand what Travolta's "Battlefield Earth" did for L. Ron Hubbard...
