I haven't paid much attention to 9-11 conspiracy theories, but today I happened to read a few excerpts from a radio show in which one "leading" figure in this apparently growing movement was interviewed by another "leading" figure.
This stuff is way weirder than I'd thought. It's not just about a missile hitting the Pentagon, or the World Trade Center being brought down by explosives. No, the conspiracy theorists have moved considerably beyond these comparatively normal delusions.
Here's just one excerpt, as transcribed in a post at Screw Loose Change, a Web site that debunks the conspirators. The two "experts" are the show's host, James Fetzer, and his guest, William Deagle.
FETZER: "They're building these detention camps all over the country.... I just think there's going to be a huge group of us marched off to these detention facilities when they perform the next phony attack on the US, suspend the Constitution and turn the American military against the American people."
DEAGLE: [describes giant detention camps which can hold a million people each, including some in Canada with special rail connections, and some of the camps underground such as under 'DIA' (Denver International Airport)]
FETZER: "What in God's name is their plan.... I've heard different speculations. I've heard reports that they're equipped with full-sized guillotines suggesting that they're going to lop a lot of our heads off. I've also heard the idea of creating huge slave labour camps, so it's even cheaper for American corporations to produce their goods."
Later, Fetzer reportedly adds the detail that the "full-sized guillotines" (as opposed to miniature ones that would lop off our pinkie toes?) were made in China. Folks, it's an international conspiracy!
Fetzer, by the way, is a professor of philosophy (!) at the University of Minnesota in Duluth. Nice to know that our kids are getting a solid grounding in logical reasoning.
Hat tip: Moonbattery.
There's also that professor in Madison who is talking about this too. When it's preposed that tenure rules be changed to keep out people like that, there is a huge outcry.
